Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State yesterday broke his protocol as he stopped his convoy to attend to accident victims personally.

The governor, who was returning to Lokoja, Kogi State capital, ordered his convoy to stop to attend to victims of the accident involving a trailer and two 18-seater Toyota Hiace buses traveling from Lagos to Lafia.

A statement by Governor Wada’s special adviser on media and strategy, Jacob Edi, said the governor got out of his official car and ran across the road to give a helping hand to the victims and promptly used his mobile phone to call officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission who arrived at the scene within a short time.
Moved by the fatality of the accident, Governor Wada said he will pick the medical bills of the victims who sustained various degrees of injury.
No fewer than three people were feared dead in the accident while several others were rushed to the intensive care unit of the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja.
Governor Wada commended officials of the FRSC for the professional way they handled the accident and sympathized with the victims.
